The Spirit of '73

It's not out of the question that the 2009 TEA party participants could someday be respected by history as patriots who made a difference- same as 1773. This is just the sort of public demonstration of outrage that's needed to break through the media's disingenuous, manufactured version of reality- and draw a fiscal line in the sand.

And you can believe that Obama and the left are plenty scared of the TEA party movement- how else to explain the dubious timing of the DHS report warning of "right-wing" radicals, as noted by Rush Limbaugh? (thx Gateway Pundit)

Now ACORN activists (on the taxpayer's dime, incidentally) are being sent-in to disrupt the protests however possible- the kind of face-to-face street confrontation of that descended 1920's Germany into chaos and presaged Hitler's rise. There are surely more Alinsky-style attacks on Obama's growing list of enemies (both real and perceived) to be seen from this administration, the DNC, and their allies in the MSM and New Media- so count on that, too.

With the damage Obama is doing to this country in every sphere, taking the wind out of his sails until a proper attitude adjustment can be delivered in November 2010 is absolutely vital... if he can be slowed down for 18 mos, there will be all the less damage to unwind when we neutralize his legislative accomplices. This guy is rapidly liquidating everything that made this country great... and needs to be put back-on-his-heels with a major embarrassment that puts an end to the myth that everybody just loves Barack and his wacked-out agenda... because millions of us don't.

For the TEA (Taxed Enough Already) party near you:

It's going to be a whole lot of fun- let the backlash begin.

I will be attending a tea party in Manchester New Hampshire and I cannot wait. This will be the first time that I have attended anything like this.

I think you are right about the connection to Obama's speech yesterday, the DHS report on us radical right-wingers, and the TEA party movement.

What was probably the icing on the cake for the tea parties was when Rick Perry, Texas' governor stated that Texas can secede from the union. That will draw a lot of attention but more importantly it sends the message that these movements are serious for such strong words to be used. While the media will say they Texas does not have the right to do this outright (there are some court cases which agree, there are certain paths they can take to get this goal).

While they do not have the right to do this outright, there are certain paths they can take to get this goal. Come on, you know this is possible because this is the same country which gives exceptions to tax cheats through cleaver legal
maneuvers.

Really it is just using the legal system creatively.

Texas probably has the best chance at success. Here is just one way how it can work. The annexation agreement made when Texas joined the union provided that Texas would be able to divide into 5 states. This would create 8 more conservative Senators.

If Texas were to try to divide and be rebuffed, the US would be in violation of the agreement and Texas should be able to go free.

It is not all that far fetched. More here:

This could be the start of something big, but it is going to require a lot more from us than just attending a 1 day protest. We have to keep the energy and anger up for a long period of time. Our values and our country have been under assult for at least a generation. We are not going to turn it around in a day, a year, or even a decade. This is a long term thing.

This is different from 1773. The original Tea Party was the start of a clash between the American culture and the government that we had at the time. This time however, most members of our culture are fully in sync and even happy with our socialist government. Thus, our first goal must be to change our culture back to what it was in 1773.

Is this a "movement", that goes a certain distance then stops? Or is it the start of a "revolution" that keeps coming back around in the face of Peebo and company? If it is a movement, they can happily ignore us and write us off as a bunch of "right-wing terrorist nut-jobs". If this is the start of a new revolution, they will not be able to ignore us so easily.

But, if this is truly a revolution, it MUST be a PEACEFUL revolution that is fought with ideas and educating our fellow citizens. We must not allow violence to become part of our toolkit or the socialists win.

I agree with Mike, we must keep the steam coming. It's difficult to do when the media refuses to admit there were genuine issues being protested.

I heard the White House didn't know the events were going on. How incredibly arrogrant.

I keep thinking of how illegal immigrant amnesty was shut down because of the "the people." Now we'll face it again, and it won't be so easy. There is a lot of work ahead of us.

What a great blog this is....I just discovered it this week from being on WAKE UP AMERICA.
I am very proud of all the hard working Americans who took time to be at the many many tea parties going on all across the country. I believe these to be the ultimate slap and ridicule, exactly what the President and D.C. have coming to them. But as others have said, this should only be the beginning.
I keep reading so many people saying that the next election (2010) will begin to correct the problem(s) that was established from the last election...so I would like to make a prediction. I predict that this administration will "create" some diversionary "crisis" that will be so important and troubling that there will need to be martial law imposed...that the operation of day to day functions of the federal and possibly even state government will not be able to be carried out; the election process will be "postponed". For how long, that is the question. And if any of us react with accusation or any type of anger, we will be calling attention to the fact that we are in doubt of this "crisis" and will be told to calm down and relax. I hope I am warong, but I put nothing past this administration, NOTHING! (I hope I am just being ever so slightly paranoid!!!)
