PelosiCare: Buy What You're Told... or Go to Prison!

As despised statist slush-head Nancy Pelosi attempts to sneak her latest version of ObamaCare past us, it doesn't take much digging through the 1900+ page monstrosity to find why she's abandoning pledges to post the bill online, and in such a hurry to bring a vote... regardless of weak and declining support from all quarters.

Now ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) has released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that this outrageous legislation includes draconian measures to force the mandatory purchase of a cca $15,000 of HC insurance... and that those in non-compliance with the unprecedented and un-American individual mandate would be subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and even imprisonment of up to five years...
Criminal penalties:
Prosecution is authorized under the Code for a variety of offenses. Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:
• Section 7203 – misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.
• Section 7201 – felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.” [page 3]
When confronted with this same issue during its consideration of a similar individual mandate tax, the Senate Finance Committee worked on a bipartisan basis to include language in its bill that shielded Americans from civil and criminal penalties. The Pelosi bill, however, contains no similar language protecting American citizens from civil and criminal tax penalties that could include a $250,000 fine and five years in jail.
“The Senate Finance Committee had the good sense to eliminate the extreme penalty of incarceration. Speaker Pelosi’s decision to leave in the jail time provision is a threat to every family who cannot afford the $15,000 premium her plan creates. Fortunately, Republicans have an alternative that will lower health insurance costs without raising taxes or cutting Medicare,” said Camp.
According to the Congressional Budget Office the lowest cost family non-group plan under the Speaker’s bill would cost $15,000 in 2016.
Hey Blue Dogs... are you seriously willing to end your political career for Nancy Pelosi?

Why? What's in it for you... and your constituents? Hard to imagine why anyone would allow themselves to be hectored into taking-one-for-the-team and incurring the wrath of the nation... when this arrogant socialist twit wouldn't spit on you if your hair was on fire.

Do the right thing now- and kill this pig... there's no future in backing Obama's radical plans anymore. Vote for this highly unpopular bill at your peril... as SanFranNan will leave you twisting-in-the-wind next fall, of that you can be sure.

AMA May Be Forced to Withdraw It's ObamaCare Endorsement

In a surprising development -and a hideous shock for the White House- the American Medical Association's much-hyped endorsement of ObamaCare may have to be withdrawn due to a significant number of it's members now in open rebellion against it.

This deals a double-blow to Obama, as he was trumpeting the AMA's support proudly this week -even making a surprise appearance in the WH press room to announce the endorsement. He also found it highly useful in attempting to legitimize the AARP's dubious backing of the legislation and lend moral support... as they've inexplicably endorsed it against the wishes of most of their members, too.

This today at Politico:
The American Medical Association’s decision to endorse the House reform bill before its members had a chance to weigh in has dissenting factions threatening a “showdown” this weekend.
Opponents of the group’s endorsement are planning to introduce multiple resolutions to rescind or amend the AMA’s nod, according to an official whose doctor group opposes today’s endorsement.
“All is not happy in Denmark. There is a split within the ranks of the physician community,” the official said. “Clearly, the AMA does not represent the views of all physicians.”
In fact, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons announced their opposition to the House bill today. ...
Some AMA members are upset that the association plowed forward with an endorsement ahead of their meeting this weekend in Houston. Also grumbling about the AMA’s endorsement are state medical associations in Ohio, Illinois, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida, the official said.
Former AMA president Stormy Johnson is preparing a resolution to rescind the endorsement, sources said. And the surgeons are introducing a resolution that would call on the AMA to actively oppose any legislation that includes a public option or a temporary doc fix or that doesn’t include medical malpractice reform.

Unemployment Rate Soars to 10.2%... a 26-Year High

Unemployment continues to climb one-year after Barack Obama's victorious presidential campaign- and is promptly undermining the Dear Leader's popularity, clout, and liberal, statist agenda.

And while Team Obama's only major legislative success was the Porkulus bill- hawked as an expensive cure for unemployment- it turned-out to be nothing more than a $800B Democratic wish-list of pork-barrel spending which has had little or no effect -outside of a slew of government hires- on the employment situation in this country.

Joblessness is now the worst since 1983... and how did we get ourselves out of this mess last time? Not the way this crew's doing it...

Maybe the MSM needs to finally get off their fat asses and ask a few questions of this WH... like why they spend almost a trillion dollars of our money for nothing- except maybe a spike in the inflation rate when the economy finally picks itself up off the floor.

And while they're at it, ask Team Obama why they insist on pressing-on with failed policies on all fronts. A lot of us are starting to wonder what planet they're living on, and even who's side they're working for... sure doesn't seem to be ours.

Hoffman 2010? Run Doug, RUN!

With mid-terms less than a year away, Tuesday's election results in New Jersey and Virginia should have a chilling effect on wavering Blue Dogs, thus undermining ObamaCare's chances of passing in anything like it's current form.

SanFranNan's already made it abundantly clear she has little concern for these Democrats from conservative districts' fate... she forced them into line while ramming-through Waxman's cap-n-tax and the wasteful and ineffective Porkulus- and using a lot more stick than carrot. And when it comes to any input in creating these bills, moderate-conservative Dems were offered no better than the GOP, either- in other words, treated like a bothersome child, and ignored.

This then will be the situation faced by freshly-minted Congressman Bill Owens from NY-23... who ran on a fairly conservative, pro-business platform to get elected- for a Dem, anyway. How he handles the balancing act of keeping his promises in DC -without offending Pelosi, who sponsored him- over the next 12 difficult months will have a lot to do with his ability to fend-off his next challenge at the polls in November 2010- and whether he can beat a reconstituted Doug Hoffman campaign with full GOP backing from the start... and an admiring national fan-base.

The National Revue seems to see the tenacious Hoffman having another go at it... I sure hope so:
Hoffman’s candidacy generated much talk of a civil war in the GOP. Ironically, it is Owens who is about to learn firsthand what it’s like to belong to a majority that brooks no dissent.
When Blue Dogs voiced their concerns over the speed at which Pelosi was attempting to ram the health-care overhaul through the House, their fellow Democrats responded with contemptuous sneers. ... Former DNC chief Howard Dean warned of primary challenges for Blue Dogs if they didn’t support the public option........
Is Hoffman up for the challenge of another tough campaign? Bob Miller relates a telling anecdote. “When Doug got in the race, I told him, ‘They’re going to come after you.’ And he said, ‘Bob, anything that happens to me is nothing compared to what our Founding Fathers risked to stand up for their principles.’ That’s the kind of person he is.”
The slogan printed on the backdrop at Hoffman HQ last night read, “Fight back.” In the next few months, conservatives will be urging Hoffman to fight on.

Reaganomics vs. Obamanomics

The message in yesterday's pushback of the Boy Wonder is clear- we don't want any more goverment and/or spending... period.

While the Obots will now be in spin-mode big-time, the truth is that the Obama spell is now broken... with Blue Dogs and RINOs surely mortified. ObamaCare needed those votes, so it's now in deep, deep trouble. And cap-n-tax? In the middle of a depression?

But regardless of how the WH still attempts to heap-it-all-on-Bush, the economy was key in all other judgements of Obama yesterday. As the only of his giant statist schemes to actually get passed, the ineffectual Stimulus legislation has turned-out to be $800B for nothing, except maybe a future surge of inflation. So voters had precious little else to judge Obama on... but his golf swing (mediocre)... he simply hasn't done anything.

David Plouffe's trolls and other mindless leftist drones are under marching orders to attack "failed" and "disproven" Reaganite views/policies such as trickle-down economic theory and the Laffer curve, anything to justify our country going in a completely opposite direction.
But just compare Obama's highly-fictionalized beautification of the disastrous New Deal (this time on steroids) with the real-world Reagan Recovery of the 1980s, which brought us back from 11% unemployment plus double-digit inflation and interest rates...
Ronald Reagan accomplished this with an adherence to Milton Friedman's Chicago-School philosophy- spending and tax cuts, in addition to deregulation and incentives for small businesses and entrepreneurs- all aided by Dutch's principled leadership, sunny optimism, and complete faith in the American free-market-enterprise system.
Of course, this is all 180 degrees from what Obama and Pelosi have foisted on us with the porkulus bill- small wonder then that their minions attempt to slander the legacy of Ronald Reagan... who in actuality gave us eight of the best years this country's ever seen.

Reagan created over 20M jobsgrowing the country’s real GDP by almost 30% in the process. Those kind of results make one wonder why Obama’s multi-trillion-dollar spending would impress anybody, with his pledged 3.5M new and “saved” jobs -whatever those are- a paltry figure 16.5M jobs shy of The Gipper’s towering accomplishment.

And now it's clear that Obama's dubious promises can't be delivered upon anyway... unemployment is soaring, with almost no private sector jobs created whatsoever. Contrast this with Reagan's astute observation that "Entrepreneurs and small businesses are responsible for almost all of the economic growth in the United States"- and that the key to unleashing this lays in basically just getting out-of-their-way.
Of course, the MSM never asked Slim Smiley any questions about his contradictory pledges, comprehensive lack of business sense, or reckless economic policy... they were too busy with his lengthy puppy-vetting process, "cool" neckties... and how he likes to play hoops.
But the voters of this country look like they're starting to figure-it-out... at least in New Jersey and Virginia, anyway.

Conservatives Roll to Victory

With both Virginia and New Jersey governors' mansions going to Republicans, and conservative Doug Hoffman's team now predicting victory in House district NY-23, we have Barack Obama losing important races where he and the DNC pretty much gave it all they had- but independents swung-hard to the right, a hideous shock for the pompous Team Obama. And this shot across the bow was desperately needed for the sake of the country, too- as this crew is way out-of-control.

As has been discussed, this is a similar situation to 1993 when the GOP took both of these same gubernatorial races on the way to a midterm rout of the Dems -forcing Clinton to the right and off his HC reform- from 1994-onwards. McDonnell's victory in Virginia was a real blowout, too- almost twenty points at last count... and this coming just a year since Obama won the state by a comfortable margin.

Some on the Right might not see Mr Christie in NJ as a true conservative, due to some of his views... but the message to our misguided and radical White House -as well as jittery Blue Dogs up for election next year-
is clear: this country's had about enough. The excuses, blame deflection, and spin will be delivered frantically from the left this week... but the truth is that the Dear Leader's prestige has been seriously damaged, and this may in-fact be a significant turning-point for the political balance in this country.

These victories -along with the lessons of NY-23- couldn't come at a better time for the GOP, as to provide momentum and steer the party towards Reaganite candidates in the runup to mid-term elections next year. Tonight we saw the the latest manifestation of a backlash that the dinosaur media and online Left have been working so hard to hide- but has been brewing for some time now.

Gibsy tried to claim that Obama "wasn't watching" the returns this evening- and was already downplaying their significance. Does anybody actually believe that?

About time for a Marlboro, eh Barack?

Note that
this is what things looked like for the Dear Leader going into this debacle tonight- not good:
