Rock-n-Roll Oldies: The Creation- 1967

English rock band The Creation was formed in 1966 London, and best-known for the Top 40 single Painter Man in England and in several European countries... though never really catching-on all that big in The States.

The style was loud pop art known later as freakbeat, similar to The Kinks and The Who -and with a similar sense of humor- but evolved over time into more of a mid-60s psychedelic rock. Members had played together in a previous band with bassist John Dalton, who left them to join The Kinks. The new then lineup became The Creation- but their short history was turbulent, and there were changes for each album. In it's final 1968 form, the band featured today's Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood right-before he went on to join The Faces.

Note in the video guitarist Eddie Phillips' use of a violin bow- producing a haunting, edgy sound, an innovation he perfected in his teens, and employed with amusing showmanship onstage... when most attribute this idea to Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin years later.

Asked to describe the band's sound, Phillips famously responded: "Our music is red... with purple flashes." Ah, the 60s- And as with The Who, these guys are best when you crank 'em up...

Obama Administration Removed Faisal Shahzad From Terror Surveilance List Before Attack!

I just read on Gateway Pundit that confessed Times-Square Taliban-terrorist Faisal Shahzad was removed from the Department of Homeland Security travel lookout list sometime after Barack Obama came into office... after having been on it since 1999. As CBS reports:

Sources tell CBS News that would-be Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad appeared on a Department of Homeland Security travel lookout list – Traveler Enforcement Compliance System (TECS) –between 1999 and 2008 because he brought approximately $80,000 cash or cash instruments into the United States...

Team Obama then began ending Bush-era terror investigations soon after coming to office, as noted at GP... the only wonder is why it took even this long for the fruits of this misguided and utterly naive policy to arrive on the nation's doorstep...

Biggest Recipient of BP Money For 20 Years? Barack Obama!

As a BP oil rig continues to gush 40,000 bbls/day into the Gulf of Mexico, inquiring minds are asking a few question about all that money BP gave to candidate Obama...

Politico:

BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Donations come from a mix of employees and the company’s political action committees — $2.89 million flowed to campaigns from BP-related PACs and about $638,000 came from individuals.

On top of that, the oil giant has spent millions each year on lobbying — including $15.9 million last year alone — as it has tried to influence energy policy.

During his time in the Senate and while running for president, Obama received a total of $77,051 from the oil giant and is the top recipient of BP PAC and individual money over the past 20 years, according to financial disclosure records.

This being the same BP that recieved a waiver from a required enviromental impact study just over a year ago... and for re. very same offshore rig that blew, how 'bout that:

The Interior Department exempted BP's calamitous Gulf of Mexico drilling operation from a detailed environmental impact analysis last year, according to government documents, after three reviews of the area concluded that a massive oil spill was unlikely.

The decision by the department's Minerals Management Service (MMS) to give BP's lease at Deepwater Horizon a "categorical exclusion" from the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) on April 6, 2009 -- and BP's lobbying efforts just 11 days before the explosion to expand those exemptions -- show that neither federal regulators nor the company anticipated an accident of the scale of the one unfolding in the gulf.

Faisal Shahzad Arrested Enroute To Dubai-

After some -like Michael Bloomberg- began to play-down the terrorists in favor of a "disgruntled rightist" angle in the attempted Times Square bombing, reality's hitting hard now... Faisal Shahzad, 30, was held while trying to board a plane for Dubai at John F Kennedy International Airport in New York. He's a Pakistani-American who just took a lengthy trip over there, leading credibility to the Taliban video claiming responsibility as well... so much for Big Sis Napolitano labeling him a "lone wolf" yesterday.

Attorney General Eric Holder said: "This investigation is ongoing, as are our attempts to gather useful intelligence, and we continue to pursue a number of leads. "But it's clear that the intent behind this terrorist act was to kill Americans." Faisal Shahzad

Times Square Bomb Scare

New York City's Times Square was cleared late on Saturday night after a car with smoke pouring from it was later found to contain materials thought to constitute a car bomb. A mounted police officer was tipped off to smoke coming from the sport utility vehicle at 6.30pm on Saturday (0830 AEST, Sunday)- subsequently the bomb squad were sent to investigate the contents of the car on 45th Street.

Deputy Commissioner Paul J. Browne, the Police Department’s chief spokesman, said a device found in the SUV truck "appears to be a car bomb left in a Pathfinder between Seventh and Eighth”, the New York Times reported.

The Times quoted police saying the device contained “explosive elements” that included “propane tanks, some kind of powder, gasoline and a timing device.”

Reports said a 'flash' was seen before the fire in the popular tourist spot, while unconfirmed reports said a man was seen running from the scene. However, Mayor Michael Bloomberg later said there was currently no evidence from CCTV cameras to suggest a suspect was seen fleeing

Speaking to the press, Bloomberg praised police officers, while adding it appeared to be an amateurish job, with no immediate suspects... police were investigating reports that the Nissan Pathfinder's license plates did not match the car's registration.
