Stand-up Comedy Greats: Bob Newhart 1969

"This stammer got me a home in Beverly Hills...
I'm not about to screw with it now!"

Bob Newhart (Oak Park, Illinois 9.25.1929) is an American comedian, author, and TV/film actor known for a deadpan style and trademark stammering and hesitant delivery. His hugely successful career spans over four decades, and the man is nothing less than an American comedy legend...

Bob Newhart's career was launched by his 1960 comedy album The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart -which acutally went to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remains to this day the 20th best-selling LP of any kind... in history.

Not only did he release an additional ten comedy albums over the next three decades, but Bob Newhart evolved into a huge star with four different TV series, various appearances in films and other television shows.

In college we got together to watch the 1980s Bob Newhart series "Newhart" every Tuesday night, where Bob plays a Vermont innkeeper of "Larry, Darrell, and Darrell" fame- always loved that show.

And here we have a vintage stand up bit of his on
