Gateway Pundit has been on a tear lately, if you're not already aware. This impressive conservative blog has recently shot into the top ten political blogs on Wikio and Technorati.
And he's just put up this week's cover of Newsweek- where those dinosaur-media bootlicks try to sell us on the idea that Joe Biden's not just qualified, but actually some kind of force-to-be-reckoned-with... please:
Meanwhile back in reality, Biden is a dangerous fool- and it’s really not funny having him in a position of power like this at all.
Affable ol' Joe often appears to have no idea what he’s talking about, but this has little effect on the level of output from this mother-of-all-loose-cannons. Biden has been consistently on the wrong side of history for 30 years, opposing every step of Reagan's weapons buildup that won the Cold War, against the first Iraq war in '91, proposing a harebrained scheme to split Iraq in 3-parts in '06, etc… so his DNC-vaunted foreign policy “experience” has little value… this hack doesn’t appear to have learned a thing.
But to Team Obama, Biden has a very useful role as the town character- they use him to put risky or incredulous statements out there that are useful strategically, and if it causes problems, they can just say “oh, that’s just ol’ Joe… you know how he is”. An example would be when Biden said the economy’s in danger of “really tanking” when they were trying to scare-up (literally) support for the ill-advised Porkulus.
And it must have occured to Obama that having Biden as VP makes people think twice when they talk about any disqualification or impeachment. Narcissists aren't known for surrounding themselves with impressive people, anyway- they prefer obedient toadies like Joe and The Gibster.
