Nominal Republican Dede Scozzafava has withdrawn from a congressional race in which her poll numbers have plummeted in the face of Conservative Party challenger Doug Hoffman's incredible surge... a dramatic development that increases the GOP's chances of winning the contentious and closely-watched race.
Of course the RNCC is behind this, finally realizing their best chances lie with backing the true Reaganite Hoffman in a contest where he's currently running neck-and-neck with Pelosi's handpicked favorite, Bill Owens.
The GOP will now be throwing its full support to Hoffman, after not only endorsing Scozzafava with Newt Gingrich flying in tight support formation, but deriding the Conservative Party candidate in statements throughout much of the race. At least they realized their error before it was too late... which is more than can be said for poor ol' Newt.
