BREAKING: Trump NOT Running

With Gingrich basically destroying himself already and Huckster out, the field is thinning fast.  The question is does it create room for someone new, or strengthen some element of the current bunch?

CNN has Trump's full statement:

"After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the Presidency. This decision does not come easily or without regret; especially when my potential candidacy continues to be validated by ranking at the top of the Republican contenders in polls across the country. I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election. I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.
I want to personally thank the millions of Americans who have joined the various Trump grassroots movements and written me letters and e-mails encouraging me to run. My gratitude for your faith and trust in me could never be expressed properly in words.

So, I make you this promise: that I will continue to voice my opinions loudly and help to shape our politician's thoughts. My ability to bring important economic and foreign policy issues to the forefront of the national dialogue is perhaps my greatest asset and one of the most valuable services I can provide to this country. I will continue to push our President and the country's policy makers to address the dire challenges arising from our unsustainable debt structure and increasing lack of global competitiveness. Issues, including getting tough on China and other countries that are methodically and systematically taking advantage of the United States, were seldom mentioned before I brought them to the forefront of the country's conversation. They are now being debated vigorously. I will also continue to push for job creation, an initiative that should be this country's top priority and something that I know a lot about. I will not shy away from expressing the opinions that so many of you share yet don't have a medium through which to articulate.
I look forward to supporting the candidate who is the most qualified to help us tackle our country's most important issues and am hopeful that, when this person emerges, he or she will have the courage to take on the challenges of the Office and be the agent of change that this country so desperately needs."
Thank you and God Bless America!
Donald J. Trump

This is good news, actually.
He can continue to hammer away at the horrid gang of o & co.
without having to worry about votes!

That's an interesting point... I wonder if he'll still slap Obama around, like just as a hobby?

lol

As long as he doesn't pull a last-minute Ross Perot he's fine by me...

OK then, what does that leave us?
Not a huge Trump fan by any means, but the rest are weak, IMHO.

Trump knows he cannot run from his connections to Soros. He cannot hide his real views and he showed the other night when he was lightly made fun of by a comedian at some hollywood type fundraiser he was attending that he cannot handle criticism from the press at all. Trump was a liberal democrat all his life and nothing has changed now.
Trump did the Birth Certificate thing which gave cover to BHO to fake his so Trump's work for Soros on this is over.

@ Mark Adams: Herman Cain, Lt. Col Allen West, Michelle Bachmann, etc...If you were planning on voting for Trump, it would have been just another vote for BHO because Soros owns Trump just like he owns BHO, Romney and Gingrich.

Reaganite Republican said...

Agree with you, Mark

I like Palin and Bachmann, but doubt their ability to win- and does Michelle have any executive experience?

I like Bolton A LOT... he said he'd announce next month, but I don't know how he could do, never run for public office. But does he make sense- and on all my hot button issues.

Cain sounds good, but I dunno if he's hawkish enough for me, I've worked up a list of countries I want bombed, that's my litmus test- I'm sure you could guess em

Andrew, like to keep all options open. I didn't care for the connection to Soros. But the main objective is to get Obama out of office. Cain is a good candidate. I love Palin but the MSM has already done it's number on her and her poll numbers are way down.
Independents have already dismissed her.

As for Lt. Col Allen West & Michelle Bachmann. I don't believe West will run and am waiting for Bachmann to toss her hat into the ring.
I don't believe there is a real legitimate, solid connection to Soros and Gingrich.

Mark Adams said...

RR, Bachmann has little to no executive experience, but she resonates with the TPP and independents

PS- one question for the Trump haters:

If he's such a RINO, why did he endorse McCain in '08 when EVERYBODY in Manhattan voted for Obama?

I'm not convinced he's not a conservative, but Trump at least admits how the system works, he says he gave $ to Hillary and Weiner because GOP candidates getting 15% of the vote in NYC couldn't help him with anything. It's true, and he's got a business to run that's highly dependent on political approval

This is good news but it would be even better if the Republicans actually had a strong candidate. As of right now I am less than impressed with any of our choices.

Reaganite Republican said...

Me too Steve, the complete package just ain't there now

Certain issues vital, and they've got to be willing to really kick some ass, I want a FIGHTER

I have to say, I'm glad this is over. A Trump candidacy was a train wreck waiting to happen. Maybe he can be an attack dog, but even that has it's limits.

A little birdie told me you were seen sobbing in the corner.

Reaganite Republican said...

Not true, last time I sobbed in the corner is when they cancelled "Gunsmoke" lol

I've been looking into Rick Santorum, and I gotta tell ya, I like what I'm seeing so far. Allen West repeated again today that he will not run.

Reaganite Republican said...

I'll take your tip and have a look, Zilla

He struck me as kind of a talking-points robot last time I listened to him

Trestin said...

I hope Cain implodes next. I like Ron Paul, and Tim Pawlenty is okay. I'm afraid it's going to be Mitt.

Reaganite Republican said...

NO Mitt!!!

KOOK said...

If it is Mitt then we are well and truly intercoursed.
