UNLIKELY PATRIOT: Gene Simmons of KISS!

'If you have a problem with America,
you have a problem with me!' -Gene Simmons

Unlike many of today's less-appreciative-type immigrants -who entertain visions of conquest- traditional American immigrants of the 20th century (and their children) are among the most patriotic people you could ever ask to meet. They knew how good we've got it in this country -felt blessed for being allowed in- and where/are sincerely grateful for America's sacrifice on their behalf- you never heard any of this entitlement bullshit from them...

What's that got to do with Gene Simmons?

He was actually born Chaim Witz in Israel on August 25, 1949.
The rocker/singer/songwriter/producer/entrepreneur/actor is of course one of the founding members of the rock band KISS (1973), which has sold a mind-boggling 100M albums worldwide (hard to say he didn't pay the US economy/tax coffers back).

Sadly, Simmons' Jewish background has a very dark history- his Hungarian mother and uncle where the only members of their entire extended family to escape extermination in the death camps of WWII. Dad was also a surviving Hungarian Jew, but he stayed behind in Israel while Simmons' 'dirt poor' mother headed to NYC with the future rock star in tow. He was only eight years old when he arrived in Queens, speaking not a word of English.

Gene Simmons returned to visit his Israeli birthplace (Haifa) in 2011, which he described as a 'life changing experience'. In a 2004 interview in Australia, Simmons went into the topic of Islamic extremism: he described the Muslim world as 'a vile culture', and noted that regarding Islamic immigration to the West, 'They want to come and live right where you live- and they think that you're evil.'

Simmons supported the 2003 invasion of Iraq, writing: 'I'm ashamed to be surrounded by people calling themselves 'liberal' who are -in my opinion- spitting on the graves of brave American soldiers who gave their life to fight a war that wasn't theirs...in a country they've never been to... simply to liberate the people therein'.

And he wears his love of America on his shirtsleeve- 'I wasn't born here. But I have a love for this country and its people that knows no bounds.
I will forever be grateful to America for going into World War II -when it had nothing to gain- in a country that was far away... and rescued my mother from the Nazi German concentration camps.
She is alive and I am alive because of America. And, if you have a problem with America, you have a problem with me.'

And although Simmons did fall for the 'moderate' Obama tripe of 2008
-then made the ultimate mistake of actually voting for him- at least he has the balls to say on-the-record that he regrets it (2010)... since going-on to criticize Obamacare specifically. Other choice quotes would include 'I want my vote back' and 'The government is not your mommy and daddy!'.

Following a 2011 Mideast speech -where Obama talked of returning to (indefensible) 1967 borders- Simmons said the President was 'gravely misguided'. He also described the UN as 'the most pathetic body on the face of the earth.'

In an April 2012 interview, Simmons endorsed Republican Mitt Romney for President, because 'America should be in business and it should be run by a businessman.'

And while I'm not condoning Mr Simmons' alleged personal life, ALL I KNOW is that if more people in this country thought (and voted) like this flamboyant rock/reality TV star, we wouldn't be in the nightmare-mess we are now.

It's like what (conservative blogging pioneer) Arthur Chrenkoff once said about (Christian, Republican) Alice Cooper  'You have to be worried when a guy with too much mascara and a snake wrapped around his neck has a keener grasp of basic new millennium geopolitics than so many leading lights of the Democratic Party'...

Shocked?
