But much like the Mexicans 'paying for the wall', all such taxes and levies will eventually fall in the lap of the American consumer -there's no such thing as a free ride, as some confidence trickster might propose to you.

The Gipper knew that better than anybody... a lesson lost on much of today's detached-from-logic 'alt/right' conservatives:

'The most dangerous myth is the demagoguery that business can be made to pay a larger share, thus relieving the individual. 

Politicians preaching this are either deliberately dishonest, or economically illiterate, and either one should scare us... Only people pay taxes, and people pay as consumers every tax that is assessed against a business.'

And of course any such tax would be a disaster for jobs right from the start- the United States already has the highest corporate taxes on Earth.
