Emerging Consensus = Dems Doomed

It increasingly appears that the contentious Obamacare debate has evolved into a legislative and PR debacle that could incinerate the Democrats' massive electoral mandate. This looming failure would be the beginning-of-the-end for the foohardy Obamamania fad, along with it's radical initiatives... thereby providing the country with a much-needed rollback of unbridled leftist power. Yesterday's Zogby Poll shows Obama's approval rating at 45%- a startling new low, even for Zogby- quite a dissipation of political capital after just 7 months in office.

And every day the president look more desperate- now you're likely to see the real Chicago-Machine Obama that lies behind the on-cue grins. He knows the HC bill has become a political quagmire, and of his own doing, regardless of relentless scapegoating... so the smiling, sensitive Barack is going on-the-shelf for awhile. While we're told of his cool demeanor (ad-nauseum), snarky asides have often shown cracks to the observant. Narcissists have no mechanism for dealing with opposition, either- it's a primary symptom of the condition... they take it all so personally. Surely more Obama drama to come.

Meanwhile, the guy can't stop whining about a essentially-powerless GOP's opposition to his bill. If enough Democrats supported it, he wouldn't need to lash-out with preachy accusations of "GOP conspiracy" against ObamaCare. Such charges ring hollow and look a crude diversion, since since Americans have become more skeptical of his specious agenda by-the-day. Clearly, he'd be better-off pursuing Blue Dog votes, rather than from the GOP- but what he really wants is political cover for a bill he's determined to force-through... but has already become political poison with an enraged electorate.

In his world -even though Republicans have been plenty specific in their critique- all those who oppose his statist schemes for any reason are reactionary, racist conspirators... since we couldn't possibly just be spooked by big-government proposals in a nation with no widespread desire for the type of programs that he and his progressive cult seem to think are so modern.

Now
we hear of threats from union thugs against recalcitrant legislators
- as noted at
Moonbattery, The Teamsters' Grand Poobah Jimmy Hoffa is saying that Blue Dogs who don't go-along with ObamaCare are "making a big mistake"... an ominous message, considering the source. Let's all pray the brave and principled 'Dogs aren't transformed into bluish grease-spots anytime soon.

This is -of course- is nothing new to Barack, and varies little from the the Chicago Way... you know, that cesspool of corruption that created Obama in the first-place. In fitting with that theme, irrepressible conservative-commando Michelle Malkin has exposed David Axelrod's huge confilict of interest in getting this HC reform package rammed-through- hey, Larry's from Chicago... isn't he?

Obama looks plenty nervous now, too- the previous swagger gone. The boy-President appears bewildered, like when the Wizard of Oz had his curtain yanked-away. The reality is that Obama has practically no experience in dealing with GOP nor actual popular resistance, that was all handled by The Machine... even had opponents taken off the ballot, and the rails were always well-greased. Nor has he the slightest interest in the sort of compromise that would serve him so well at this point. Unsettled and without a road-map from here, The One has actually begun to descend into nervous drivel, as when he stated on Thursday that DC was getting "wee-weed up"- Huh? Very presidential- (h/t Another Black Conservative)

The obsequious MSM have proceeded to make comprehensive asses of themselves, also cracking under the pressure. Anybody with a rudimentary understanding of manufacturing can tell you that cranking-up production puts big strains on quality-control... and the pro-Obama MSM has been working three-shifts to manufacture GOP scandal and public support of Obamacare... simultaneously demonizing any and all opponents. And while Mr Coffee could recall machines that caught fire and retain some customer faith, an MSM that never acknowledges that it produced a lemon is damn sure to lose all theirs, and permanently... thus the ceaselessly-tanking ratings.

MSNBC -who's credibility was already down to one quark- was pushing so hard to prop-up Obama's crumbling HC initiative with fantastical allegations of "white racism" behind good-faith ObamaCare protests that they stooped to altering the photo of the man who carried an AR-15 to a rally, in-order to fit their fictional racial narrative- (h/t Government Mess) Just couldn't let that opportunity slip-by, could they? Like robbing gas-stations, this stuff works until you get caught.

Smitty at The Other McCain has pointed-out the inherent squishy-ness in Peggy Noonan's excuse-making for the politically tone-deaf Obama, too- then presented the surprisingly viable argument that some 80s thrash-skate-punk (!) bands have more economic sense than this hubristic -yet clueless- White House (and I thought it was cool that Alice Cooper turned-out to be a closet-conservative). His bottom line? The math just doesn't pencil-out with ObamaCare... period- and to think otherwise is dilusional.

Sleight-of-hand such as the new shell-game scheme to split the bill into two more disgestible chunks isn't doing much to restore the already-agitated American electorate's faith in him or his agenda, either. Moderates must feel pretty used by a guy who pretended to be something that he's not -reasonable, bipartisan, moderate- in order to basically steal their votes... so they're not likely to be in the mood to take any more crap sandwiches from this administration come September.

As reported in the Wall St. Journal, Obama's always-disengenuous promises of "post-partisanship" have turned to ashes-
Obama critics say that is an inevitable result of his push for far-reaching liberal polices even as he made undefined offers to win over moderates and conservatives... Six mos. into Mr Obama's presidency, a growing core of Americans is turning against the president, including some voters he won-over during the campaign.

Riehl World View has noted that the President faces a perfect storm of opposition- surely this isn't going to plan for the Snake-Oil-Salesman-in-Chief. As noted at Politico yesterday, Obama's influence with increasingly-apprehensive Democratic legislators may have already evaporated:
Charlie Cook, one of the best political handicappers in the business, sent out a special update to Cook Political Report subscribers Thursday that should send shivers down Democratic spines.
Reviewing recent polling and the 2010 election landscape, Cook can envision a scenario in which Democratic House losses could exceed 20 seats.
"These data confirm anecdotal evidence, and our own view, that the situation this summer has slipped completely out of control for President Obama and Congressional Democrats."
Cook scrupulously avoided any mention that Democratic control of the House is in jeopardy but, noting a new Gallup poll showing Congress’ job disapproval at 70 percent among independents, concluded that the post-recess environment could feel considerably different than when Congress left in August.
"We believe it would be a mistake to underestimate the impact that this mood will have on Members of Congress of both parties when they return to Washington in September, if it persists through the end of the Congressional recess."
With the classic mid-term correction in the legislative branch working in the GOP's favor this time, the Dems reckless spending, disunity, and serial incompetence seem to be sealing that as a coming certainty. What Republicans need to to is hold-true to their Reaganite principles, and ally with the Blue Dogs to 86 this ill-conceived, Orwellian legislation.

We don't have a trillion-dollars+ anyway... and I'm not cool with the idea of China being my health-insurance underwriter- are you?
