Three Dog Night is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, CA. Best known for the songs they created from 1968 to 1975, as of 2010 the group is still actually recording and making live appearances.
Legend has it that vocalist Danny Hutton's then-girlfriend came up with the band's name in 1968 after reading a magazine article about Australian aboriginals and how they -on cold nights- had a custom of sleeping in a hole in the ground whilst embracing a dingo -a native species of wild dog- as a personal heater. On colder nights they would sleep with two dogs and if the night was freezing, it was a "three dog night"...

The earthquake rated a absolute maximum value of "7" on the Japanese scale. A 10m tsunami hit Sendai airport in the north-east. Military airplanes were flying over the worst-affected areas to assess the need for rescue efforts and the PM called an emergency cabinet meeting.
The devastating quake shook buildings in the capital for several minutes and sent people out onto the streets. Japan's NHK television showed black smoke billowing from a building in Odaiba, a suburb of Tokyo.
The quake that struck at 2:46pm was followed by a series of powerful aftershocks, including a 7.4-magnitude one about 30 minutes later. Tremors were felt as far away as in the Chinese capital, Beijing.
