Rock-n-Roll Oldies: T. Rex 1971/72

T. Rex were an English rock band fronted by guitarist, singer and songwriter Marc Bolan. Formed as Tyrannosaurus Rex in 1960s London, the folk rock group's debut album, the oddly-titled My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... but Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows (1968) did reach #15 in the UK.

In the 1970s, they achieved mainstream success as they morphed into a glam rock band -which (friend-of-Bowie) Bolan preferred to refer as Cosmic Rock- with the hits Get It On, Ride a White Swan, 20th Century Boy, Children of the Revolution, Hot Love, Telegram Sam and Metal Guru. After waning commercial success in the mid-70s, T. Rex disbanded in 1977 when Bolan was tragically killed in a car accident.

This modern montage video for Get It On (Bang a Gong) comes from Japan, and is a little weird... but with HD sound quality.

Telegram Sam below is a favorite of mine, with stylized Chuck Berry riffs, a primary element of the T-Rex sound I remember hearing on AM radio when I was ten. It was with Sweet and all the other poppy early 70s bands like Rasberries that introduced me to rock n roll music on my little Philco transistor radio... and on K-Tel records:

The latest on the Obama cheating scandal and Vera Baker is as thus:

While some are quickly moving to discredit the rumors, the National Enquirer has been working on this since 2008... and the story goes that President Barack Obama spent the night with former fundraiser Vera Baker in a DC hotel, and this is why Michelle had her fired... and also why she's laying low in the Caribbean. And who exactly is this young woman? Hyscience reports Vera Baker is formerly of the fundraising shop Baker Wambu & Associates, now running Cape Carribean LLC: The Google cache of the firm's homepage confirms that Brown had the title of National Finance Director for Obama's 2004 senate campaign.
