Iceland Volcano May 17: German Airport Closures, UK Airport Closures

Pugnacious Iceland volcano Eyjafjallajökull is still at it, and with the current eruption still active and winds shifting the Iceland volcano ash plume towards the UK and continental Europe-  German air travel was closed at a Frankfurt, Munich, and other southern airports late Sunday, but most are expected to be open today as winds shift- the latest on German airport closures re. UK's air traffic control authorities pronounced London's Heathrow Airport closed yesterday as volcanic ash from Iceland moved too close for comfort.  The ash plume -indistinguishable from normal clouds to the human eye- wreaks havoc on airplane engines... with all the expected consequences. With Heathrow closed, the backup built in all corners of the globe.
