Millbury Ohio Tornado Kills Seven; Michigan Nuclear Plant Damaged


At least seven people were killed when severe storms hit northwest Ohio Saturday night and Sunday morning. Reports indicate six tornadoes are confirmed to have touched down in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan.
To date, it is the second deadliest tornado in the country this year.
Two of the victims, Mary and Hayden, 4, Walters, were mother and son. They were from Millbury and had spent Saturday evening with friends, along with Ron, Mary's husband and Hayden's father, and daughter Madison. Ron and Madison were injured and are at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.
Edison reports power outages -- just under 4,000 without power, total. Many are in Millbury Ohio. Outages all over northwest Ohio. 30 additional crews have been called in to help.
From Toledo Metroparks: Oak Openings is closed today because of the high number of trees felled by last night's storm.
Dundee, Michigan
There was a tornado confirmed in Dundee. The tornado hit around 2:17 a.m. Sunday.
West of town, some homes were leveled. Lots of trees are down in the area, especially along Tecumseh Ave. The high school postponed its commencement.
Folks were evacuated from Holiday Express; Splash Universe was severely damaged and several visitors were injured, though not severely. Cabella's was damaged as was the Fermi power plant, which shut down.
A Red Cross client assistance center will be open from 3:30-8 PM Sunday at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Millbury Ohio (28505 Main St.). Those needing assistance for damaged or destroyed homes are encouraged to visit the center for help. The center will also be open Monday, June 7, from 9 AM-12 noon.
