The Ten Poorest US Cities... and Why

% living below the poverty level:

1.  Detroit ,  MI              32.5%
2.  Buffalo , NY             29.9%
3. Cincinnati , OH        27.8%
4  Cleveland , OH        27.0%
5. Miami , FL                 26.9%
6. St. Louis , MO          26.8%
7. El Paso , TX             26.4%
8. Milwaukee , WI        26.2%
9. Philadelphia , PA    25.1%
10. Newark , NJ           24.2%

What do these top ten cities (pop over 250,000) with the highest poverty rate all have in common...?

Detroit, MI hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1961.

Buffalo , NY  hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1954.

Cincinnati , OH  hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1984.

Cleveland , OH  hasn't elected a Republican mayor  since 1989.

Miami , FL  has never had a Republican  mayor.

St. Louis , MO  hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1949.

El Paso , TX  has never had a Republican mayor.

Milwaukee , WI  hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1908.

Philadelphia , PA  hasn'telected a Republican mayor since 1952.

Newark , NJ  hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1907.

Einstein once said, 'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different  results. Yet, it is the poor who habitually elect Democrats...
while they REMAIN PERPETUALLY POOR!

You  cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.

You  cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging  thrift.

You cannot lift the wage earner up by  pulling the wage payer down.

You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

You  cannot build character and courage by taking away people's  initiative and independence.

You cannot help  people permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves.

Many of those cities are union cities too that have seen the union demands send jobs to other countries. I know the automobile industry in St. Louis is dead--empty factories along the Interstates that once were filled with new American jobs. It's been sad to watch.

I can fully relate, Bill... born and raised in Cleveland, OH- much of the family worked at Ford

Are you even aware of what reagan did to the national debt?

Reaganite Independent said...

You mean while he was creating 20M jobs and defeating the Soviet Union?

Yeah... increasing it a fraction of what Obama did in his very first year lol

Thanks for your input, lib troll pos

Live just outside of Detroit, I see this first-hand everyday. I am old enough to know what the city used to be before Coleman Young (D) became Mayor and it has decayed at ever increasing speed ever since.

Why is it NOT a surprise that you would miss what I meant?

National debt:

"During the Reagan years, however the debt increased to nearly $3 trillion, roughly three times as much as the first 80 years of the century had done altogether."

http://www.truth-it.net/reagan_national_debt.html

"he was creating 20M jobs"?

So, why was unemployment INCREASING?

"Unemployment jumped to 10.8 percent after Reagan enacted his much-touted tax cut, and it took years for the rate to get back down to its previous level."

http://thinkprogress.org/2011/02/05/reagan-centennial/

"defeating the Soviet Union"?

Yeah, just like he "defeated" the germans and japanese during World War II, right?

"lib"?

Do you conservative lemmings realize how foolish it makes you appear to be when you screech "lib" at anyone that dares to question you or your fearful "leaders"?

I'm an American. Get it correct next time. :+)

No time for your goose chase, goofy

btw, I DO adore Ronald Reagan- always will, just like most normal Americans... right along with the millions of Europeans and others he did so much to liberate

Nice try anonymous. Try this link. It will show reagan increased the debt by 0.3 trillion. If you remember right, congress agrred to spending cuts to go along with the tax cuts, but the dim leadership balked and decided to increase spending even further.

This is horrible, how the dems and their deluded polices have destroyed once great American Cities.
You have more patience than I do to tolerate that deluded troll, RR.
Happy Valentines Day!

Surely this must just be an astounding coincidence! :)

Yeah Steve... we'll just give them the benefit of the doubt for another 50 yrs lol

Seems pretty obvious many Americans voted to bring this type of "results" to the USA as a whole with the Obammunist era- what a great idea

Thanks, idiots- now if we can only get card check, we'll all be Detrioters!

T'was Reagan's fellow Irishman Thomas "Tip" O'Neill - then Speaker of the House - who, having promised Reagan to cut spending, balked and went on a bat sh-t crazy spending spree to rival and surpass that of all the world's manic depressive housewives combined.

Reaganite Independent said...

LOL- you are correct, sir.

Same Tip O'Neill that flaked on Reagan's immigration reform deal... we got the mass amnesty while O'Neill's Dems never passed any real reform

Yet another reason bi partisanship is dead... can't trust the Dems, it's winner take all from now on out... as Obama has so clearly demonstrated

That makes RINOs less relevant than ever...

If you take a nap will you be able to answer a question like a big boy?

"btw, I DO adore Ronald Reagan- always will, just like most normal Americans"...

Nice try, except that I am the normal American and you're the mindless sycophant that refers to himself with the nonsensical term "reaganite republican".

" right along with the millions of Europeans and others he did so much to liberate."

Again, the number of europeans ronnie "liberated" is the same as the number of germans and japanese he defeated during World War Two, right?

TRY?

LOL

rccola_48, you proved my point when you re-stated the fact " It will show reagan increased the debt by 0.3 trillion."

"If you remember right, congress agrred to spending cuts to go along with the tax cuts, but the dim leadership balked and decided to increase spending even further."

Please direct me to the VETOS ronnie used to combat the congress?

The buck stops here, as the sign on the desk of one President stated.

I can't believe the IP address you're posting from, "Anon"- SHAME ON YOU

Bashing a conservative blog from work, and on the taxpayer's dime... don't you people have anything more important to do than harass the Obama regime's opponents?

whose greatest growth was during Jasper McLevy's tenure as mayor (1933-1957). Of course, he was...A SOCIALIST!!!!!!! Known for balanced budgets and reduced fiscal spending. Look it up and start using a little logic before you post.

Democrat leadership will lead the people to waste and destruction every time if subjected to it for decades. We see it over and over in Democrat lead states, and more prevalently, as you point out in cities.

Reaganite Independent said...

Mytsigns, you're name on Yahoo is "Christopher", but you're registered as a girl.

What are you up to, and what does "go Chicos" mean lol

Nice page... Obama can see his vision at work in Newark NJ. We can live without democrats.... but democrats can't live without republicans.
